Where The Red Fern Grows

Wilson Rawls Where The Red Fern Grows has its very high and very low points during the story. The book had me always wanting to know what happend next.
The style of this books puts you right into the story with Billy and his two coon houds. Its like your right there with them chaseing the crafty old coons up the river, running across the shoals, and finally treeing the the tricky critter. Also you can just feel how bad Billy wants the dogs. He sells the fisherman baite an fruite all summer saving up all of his dimes an pennies to get his pups.
He lived in the foothills of the Ozarks. This gave him open fields an high mountains, caves, and  rivers. When Billy goes to get his dogs from town he leaves late in the night haveing to cross the river and everything just to get his pups from town. When he gets his dogs trained they run all over the Ozarks chaseing coons and working hard at it.
I can make conncections personaly with this story because ive always lived out in the country and hunting an traping is a way of life. When he trees his first coon with his young dogs he proves to them that hes goin to get that coon down no matter what. When i took my first deer on my own i wanted no help, it was my deer an i was goin to take care of to prove to my dad that i was well old enough to be out on my own.
I would recomend this book to any reader. Its a great read an very easily read an its got its highs and lows in the story you never know whats gonna happen next so your always comeing back to read more.

My New Years resoulutions

My first resoulution was to win state this year. To acomplish this I have to work extra hard during the off season and summer. I must be as big and fast as i can be. Also learn my position inside and out to make the best of time on the field.
Secondly was to spend more time at home with the family and go see my dad more. theres not been many nights that me an my family have sat down an had dinner together or actually done anything together. since new years the whole family has been much closer an were all home every night. Also i go to my dads three nights out of the week to c him an stay with him on every other weekend.

In the woods

If I wake up in the morning,
If the weather is clear outside,
If it is cold outside,
If the frost is on the ground,
If I enter the woods.

If the woods are silent,
If the deer never move,
If I never get up from my stand,
If the deer come by,
If I make the perfect shot.

book review: Heat

Mike Lupicas book Heat was a good read that I would to recommend to any sports reader.

The setting of this book was in the Bronx on the ball fields an in the city.  Michal, Carlos an his dad came from Cuba an once they get to America there life gets better then something horrible happens Carlos if forced to work two jobs an keep his age a secret to keep his jobs because he is only 17.

The brothers in this story was as real as they come. they were very close to one another. Carlos did all he could to keep them together. working two jobs not fighting an keeping Michale out of trouble so they wouldn't be split apart an put into foster homes.

I can think of nothing that compares to the struggles of these two brothers. It was Michale's dream to go to the little league world series in Williams Port, but when he couldn't get his birth certificate from Cuba problems began to arise. Also Carlos was having problems with work.

I would recommend this book to any body who likes sports or a slightly suspenseful read. You never know whats gonna happen next in this story.

bullying

During the story a rose for Emily the bullying was very obvious. She had claimed to not have to pay taxes but the man she was talking bout had been dead for ten years. Also she killed the man she wanted to marry so he couldn't ever leave her. She poisoned him with arsenic. After he was dead she slept with him till her death an his body was badly decomposed.

homecomeing 2010

I play football an this game is a big game for us. Since we 7-0 this year this game is insuring us that we will go to the state play offs. Everyone is excited  on the team for this game because making the state play offs is our first goal we have reached this year.

I don't really understand why were having the homecoming dance so far after the homecoming game. The dance after the game was always something to look forward to after a hard fought game. All the players an cheerleaders have always made it to the dance with plenty of time. instead of having an actual homecoming dance we are having a fall formal sometime in the future.

This week is one of the craziest weeks of school. All the halls have decorations on the walls an wrapped around the poles. posters made for all the seniors are all over the school. Everyone is dressing up for the different crazy days of messy Monday Hawaiian Tuesday an western Wednesday. We have a pep rally on Friday before the game an to get all the students riled up for the game. Blythville better be ready when they come to Batesville.
